Brigid O'Neil is a multi-disciplinary artist who uses oil paint and digital tools to build abstracted landscapes where the intangible self and bodily experience collide and shape each other. Fleshy objects that resemble body parts, plant life, and animal hybrids populate surreal environments that simultaneously reflect joy and pain. The environments challenge their own permanence; dreamlike qualities of light present in both paint and digital media contribute to an airy façade, while thick, wound-colored textures tether the worlds to a fragile body. In the entirety of their work, O’Neil confronts the existential human condition that occurs between mind and mortality over time.
